Courtney Love Has Been In Rehab For Two Weeks, Lawyer Reveals

Courtney Love, who faces drug charges stemming from an arrest and an overdose in October, has checked herself into a Malibu, California, rehab facility.

Love has been at the Wavelengths live-in facility since November 21, and though the process of detoxification is slow, sources close to the singer said she's making progress.

"She's doing extremely well," her lawyer Ron Fischetti said Thursday (December 4).

Fischetti said he hopes the rehab stint will not only help the singer dry out, but also help resolve her legal issues. Originally she had hoped to use a private nurse to aid in her detox, but her lawyers advised her to pick a facility recognized by the court. "It's just a lot easier than having someone fly around with you and submitting urine samples," Fischetti explained.

The attorney said Love's legal team expects her drug charges to be resolved on December 11, when the court will decide whether she's eligible to avoid jail time by undergoing rehab. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles district attorney's office, however, said the singer's stint at Wavelengths will have no bearing on the charges.

Love overdosed October 2, just hours after police had arrested her for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Twenty days later, an arrest warrant for possession charges was issued because police had allegedly found prescription painkillers on her when responding to the OD call.

Calls to Wavelengths and its drug counselors were not returned.
